Tom Ford Lipsticks - A Touch of Luxury.

Sometimes a girl needs a bit of luxury in her life, and for me that comes in the shape of a Tom Ford lipstick. They are definitely the most expensive lip product I have ever owned but the formula just makes it worth every penny - they are super creamy and pigmented giving them great lasting power.
I originally splurged on Spanish Pink which is from the original collection and is a lovely everyday pink that goes with basically every makeup look.
I then got into the Lips & Boys collection and found the summer pink shade in Patrick, its a coral pink that is great with a tan and glowy skin. I now own the shade Jay aswell which is a sultry dark purple with a hint of shimmer.

If you are looking into spoiling yourself then I would definitely give these a try!

Sheer Nude Nails.

Now if I'm being honest I am actually a huge fan of dark nails, I always gravitate to those sultry smokey shades when I'm perusing the beauty isles - however I HATE the way they look when they chip, they are the most obvious colours when they have seen their best days so I decided to go well outside of my comfort zone, and I must say I have been pleasantly surprised.

I first shade I tried like this was Dior's Lili which is a sheer pinky nude that has a very glossy finish and just looks like perfected nails, the brush makes it easy and quick to apply so I've been loving being able to having a quick manicure with this one.
The closest highstreet buy to this one that I have found so far is Essie's Birthday Suit, a cult favourite for all the right reasons, I would say this one is slightly more sheer but I actually have been preferring that look recently.
For a more opaque polish Essie's Urban Jungle is a more grey/white tone that gives a more intense finish - I like this one instead of a clean white as it is more complimentary on my skintone when I'm more pale.

I've seen lots of these types of shades from different brands so if you have any recommendations then please them in the comments below -

Loving the Brand - Chanel.

Continuing on with my 'Loving the Brand' series I have gone or a brand that I have accumulated bits of when I have felt like a real treat. Chanel is one of those brands that gives an experience whenever you go to the counter, everything feels special which adds to the purchase and to my love for their products.

Recently I did a post about a repurchase of the Tan de Soleil (here) which is a complete holy grail product for me as it gives the perfect amount of warmth to the skin and can be built up so even when I'm my ghostly pale self it looks natural.
In terms of mascara I will normally reach for natural bristle brushes as they suit my lashes better, but after hearing reviews I decided to give the Inimitable Intense mascara a try, it claims to give volume, length, curl and separation which all sounds rather amazing. I have been impressed with how this mascara makes my lashes look long and fluttery which I find hard to get from silicone bristles - this was definitely a special purchase for its expense but I like to keep it for special occasions when I want those false looking lashes,
Now for a purchase that wouldn't shock anyone, I had to invest a nude pink lipstick so when I saw the shade Boy from the Rouge Coco Shine range it was love at first sight. As the formula is more hydration based it doesn't last as long as matte shades however I always get dry lips so this is super comfortable for me to wear and is easy to top up during the day. I would recommend this shade to anyone as I feel like its one of those that would go with any makeup look and is perfect to be kept in a handbag.
Lastly is abit of a mad purchase that I have come to love and now will start considering shades from their permanent line. I picked up one the Long Lasting Eyeliners from the Spring collection in the shade Fervent Blue which is the most beautiful deep blue shade I have ever seen! I felt like a moth being drawn to a metallic blue super creamy flame - this could seem a completely mental shade to some but I have worn it with a simple black cat eye on the lid with this on the bottom lashline, I think its an effective way to add a pop of colour to your look without going for a bold smokey eye.

Lancome Juicy Shakers - Cocktails for the Lips.

I was insanely excited for this Lancome release! I mean how cute are these!! I'm sure you have already heard about these Juicy Shakers but I had to do this post as I have been really enjoying them and wanted to share my thoughts.

So these contain sweet almond oil, omega 3 and cranberry oil, which nourish the lips making them feel super hydrated and plump and a pigment that will give a wash of colour to the lips. When left to settle the product will separate into half oil and half pigment so all you do is give it a little shake (hence the cocktail shaker packaging - still too cute!) and it will create your lip colour.

There are 13 shades to choose from along with a limited edition which is the blue shade I have in my picture above - this is the shade Mint to Be and looks completely bonkers when your sat applying this to your lips in public, yet it has a secret talent of simply adding what seems a clear layer to your lips but as it has the blue tone creates the look of whiter teeth and boasts a minty fresh scent. While I was looking at the shades online I couldn't just buy one so I found the shade Vanilla Pop which comes out a dusky rose shade, I have started to apply this over other lipsticks to create more comfort on the lips.

I'm really impressed with these Juicy Shakers and already want more in my collection (I need help) I think they are a fantastic idea for holiday to keep the lips hydrated and are so easy to pop in your handbag. If you can get your hands the limited Mint shade then I would highly recommend it - who doesn't want a baby blue lip oil? ..

Soap & Glory - Highlight & Sculpt Sticks

Recently I decided to go for a quick wander round the beauty section of Boots to see if there were any new releases that were worth a try and whilst scanning the Soap & Glory counter I came across these new Highlight & Sculpt Sticks; there are three in the collection but one was sold out.

Now without even swatching these I was hoping they would be a dupe for the Nars Multiple Sticks and they definitly are! These are sheerer than the Nars ones but the shades and blendability is just as smooth, the one that was sold out was very similar to Copacabana, a pretty lilac highlight that is stunning on paler skintones. The blush shade with its pink and gold glow just screams Nars Orgasm, I would say this one has abit more glitter than sheen but for the price point its completely worth it - and lastly is the bronze this is more of a blush tone to me than a bronzer but still super pretty, I think this would look amazing in the summer with a bronze smokey eye and a nude glossy lip!

If you have been looking into the Nars sticks and arent sure about the price tag these would be a great way to try the shades and product type out without the splurge - I will always love the Nars versions but these are the best dupes I've seen!

Clarins Aquatic Treasures

Recently Clarins has become one of my favourite brands, I hadn't used many of their products before this year but everything I have tried so far has been great! Their Instant Light Lip Perfecters are a holy grail product for me now and I always have one in my bag - plus their scent is incredible!

Last week they released their summer collection - Aquatic Treasures - and I instantly fell in love, it is a small yet beautiful collection, full of wearable shades that would suit anyone. I picked up two items from the collection; the bronzer and one of the eyeshadows.

Ok... so can we just take a second and just look at this! This is by far the most beautiful bronzer I have every seen, I dont even want to swatch it, the detail is incredible and makes it feel like a special edition product. The shade is actually made up of four different tones and is a warm bronzer so I wouldnt recomend it as a contour if you want the shadow effect but is lovely to warm up the face. The formula appears to be fairly lightweight and buildable without going cakey, I think if you wanted a less warm tone you could focus your brush on the lightest quarter and just get a hint of colour, this also gives the option of four different tones depending how dark you want it to be or you can obviously mix them all together and create a mid tone. There is also a huge mirror inside the packaging which is always useful if you need to touch up your make up on the go and dont wanna carry a spare mirror; although due to it being a fairly big product I'm not sure it would make the best handbag option.

Now for the eyeshadow; first of all the packaging is rose gold so im already obsessed. The shade I got is Aquatic Rose and is basically a pure rose gold shade, it is the most pigmented, beautiful rose gold shade I've ever seen! I have wanted a rose gold shadow for a really long time and have tried different ones but they have all either been too pink or too glittery; but this has a sheen finish it almost looks metallic and I can imagine if used wet could give a foil effect so that is definitely something I need to try. I think this will be great on its own with winged eyeliner and lots of lashes for a really pretty summer look, or blended with a chocolate brown for a smokey more evening look.

I would definitely recommend this collection I think its super pretty and wearable, I'm not sure how well stocked it is hopefully these are still available, I got mine from debenhams online but I think you can get it from boots aswell.

Let me know if you have tried any of the summer collections that have been released, and leave any comments below, I read every one and will reply to any questions!

Viva Glam Miley + Lip Swatch.

Yet another edition to my constantly growing collection of Mac is the Miley Cyrus Viva Glam lipstick, I actually bought this just after it was released but didnt actually try it out until today and I have to say I am really impressed. It's an amplified finish which is my favourite as they aren't drying like matte but have amazing pigmentation and feel comfortable on the lips. The shade is a hot pink that I can see myself wearing alot in the summer, it has quite a glossy finish which I actually prefer on brighter shades as it makes my lips look hydrated.

Although there is a lot of negativity about Miley this is the only shade out of the Viva Glam celebrity collection that I have actually really liked and found to be something I can wear all the time. I think this shade would suit anyone as its a really clean pink and just adds a really pretty pop of colour even on minimal makeup days.

I am pretty much in love with this lipstick its just so pretty and definitely worth a try if you like to try brighter shades. There is a matching gloss to this shade that I am now considering as I think that would be a sheerer version if you wanted this to be abit less intense.

I have done a previous post a while ago that was a full lip swatch of my Mac lipstick collection, I have added a couple (or 6) since then but it does feature about 20 shades if you wanted to see any others, I will link that one here.

Let me know what your favourite Mac lipstick is, I read every comment and will reply to any questions.

YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil

I have loved the YSL range for a long time and have never been dissapointed by any of the products that I have tried, and this is no expection! When I first heard about these the idea of having oil on my lips was not something I was at all interested in, it sounded greasy and uncomfortable, but I was so wrong. For someone who suffers from really dry lips, anything that will improve that while giving me a wash of colour is definitly worth a try.

The shade I decided to try was 'Papa Dont Peach'/ 06, it does come out fairly pink on me so not quite the shade I imagined but I do have dark lips to start off with so its quite hard to have a sheer product make a big difference. The formula of these is incredible, its sheer and moisturising and gives an even cover of colour that gets darker over a few minutes to adapt to your natural lip shade. They are made up of 5 nourishing oils, apricot kernel oil, macadamia seed oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil and passion flower oil - which brings me to the scent of these, the passion flower and apricot makes it smell sweet and fruity and makes it even better to wear.

Finally the packaging! Of course coming from YSL the beautiful metallics are super luxurious, these come in silver with a band of colour that represents the colour of the oil inside. The applicator is the same as the original glosses from the brand that apply the perfect amount of product so it doesnt go streaky or patchy.

I would recommend these to anyone, but if you have dry lips and want to be able to wear a pop of colour without worrying about it going patchy these are perfect. I think these would also be great for the summer as they keep your lips moisturised and add that bit of something to a minimal look.

Dior: Fairy Grey

As soon as all the Spring collections come out in the make-up world I get really excited, it's always my favourite season as the shades are usually soft, pretty tones that are easy to wear. This year my immediate attention went to the Dior stand where their collection just stood out to me, and all because one product in particular. I'm not someone who would normally spend such a splurge on one eyeshadow but this was so incredible that I just had to have it.

The shade is Fairy Grey and is probably the most beautiful shadow in my collection. Grey is typically a colour I will avoid as it just seems to do nothing for me however this is completely different and it definitely lives up to its Fairy connotations.
The actually shade is extremely hard to describe and does not pick up on camera anything like it does in person. It is a light grey with different coloured sparkles, which when applied wet makes it go a lilac shade on me and just brightens up my eyes.

If you are a fan of anything sparkley this is the eyeshadow for you! It is basically fairy dust infused haha! Of course the packaging is to die for and feels like pure luxury - the product comes in a box and is then wrapped in a dark blue velvet sleeve making it feel even more special.
I was definitely sceptical about buying something this expensive but I am so glad that I bit the bullet as it is just perfection. I would recommend using it wet as the pigmentation is much higher and gives a really pearlescent effect, or if used dry it just adds a sheer layer of glitter that could boost an everyday look.

Let me know if you've bought anything that your loving recently, I read every comment and will reply to any questions!

Max Factor Excess Shimmer: Copper

Even though many may think glitter and shimmer is something to be kept for the festive season or a night out, I really like to use the more subtle glitz for an everyday look and when these Excess Shimmers were released I had to give them a try. They are a cream based shadow that once applies feels more like a powder, its super pigmented and only takes one swipe across the eyes, so if you're looking for something quick and easy to put in your makeup routine this may be the shadow for you!

There are some really pretty shades in the collection but when I swatched the shade Copper I had to pick it up. For me the name Copper is slightly decieving as it is more of a mauve but still a beautiful colour and would suit any skintone. I would really like them to bring out some more spring toned shades for the upcoming season as I think the metallic with shimmer just catches the light and is just enough if you want to give your everyday routine abit of sparkle without the maintenance.

These retail for £7.99 but are nearly always on some sort of promotion, I got mine from Superdrug when they had £3 off selected lines so for about £5 I thought this was a complete bargain! I would highly recommend these and think they are a great addition to anyones makeup bag.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of the Max Factor Excess Shimmers and what you thought about them. I read every comment and will reply to any questions!

Spring Releases.

As the whole festive season is well and truly over, all the new Spring collections have overtaken the make-up stands and I have to say there are some pretty beautiful collections going around. The Maybelline new releases though really caught my eye, I dont normally buy much from Maybelline but they have released some really lovely products for the new season.

Other than Maybelline I spotted the Makeup Revolution 'The One Matte Stick' in the shade Malibu which is a matte cream bronzer. In appearance these are a dupe for the Nars Multiple and consistency is quite similar aswell; I picked this shade as I wanted to give it a go for contouring. However these are SUPER pigmented and this shade is quite dark so a light hand is necessary, these do blend really nicely so with abit of work it even worked on my ghostly skintone!

Now from Maybelline I picked up their new mascara, 'Lash Sensational' I have tried this and it is good but not my favourite, I really had high hopes for this as I had seen such great reviews but I think it is such an individual thing and this just wasn't quite right.
Secondly I had to pick up one of the new lipsticks to feed my obsession with all things lips. The shade I got was '168 Petal Pink' which is pretty much what it says on the tin, just a really pretty light pink, very summery and bright.
Lastly I reached for one of the new Colour Show polishes and was not dissapointed! The shade is 'Bouquet' and put over a light pink/lilac is just super pretty and very seasonal, it applies pink and white with rose gold to create a floral effect. I can see me using this alot of the upcoming months!

Let me know if you have picked anyrhing up from the new releases for Spring! I read all the comments and will reply to any questions.
